Is my business right for Drive?
We believe in creating an enjoyable and memorable experience our customers love and trust. We’re interested in all startups that can help us achieve this aim, in one or more of the categories described. Your startup needn’t be at the very beginning of its journey. Maybe you have a product already, maybe you even have paying customers. If you feel that your startup could benefit from working with Belron then we’d love to receive your application.
When’s the deadline for applying?
4th February 2018.
What info do I need to provide in my application?
We ask you for information about you, your idea, your team and your company. Don’t hold back, let us know how great you are!
Is there a minimum age?
You must be at least 18 years old to enter Drive.
I don’t live in the UK, can I apply?
Of course! The best innovations can come from anywhere. Bear in mind that you may need a visa to participate in the accelerator and that you will be required to travel to both the UK and participating Belron countries during the programme.
Can I apply again if I applied for Drive last time?
Yes! However, we’d like to see some evidence of the progress that your product or service has made since you last applied to Drive.
Is Drive like other accelerators?
We believe we are different. Besides the usual trimmings (opportunities to trial your product, access to funding, top-notch education programme, great location, exposure to industry leaders and investors) Drive is offering all entrants the chance to:
● Trial your product/solution in a ready-made international market with one of Belron’s international markets
● Take part in sponsored trips to your partner country
● Mentorship from Belron insiders to help you improve your product.
● Mentorship from top international entrepreneurs to push you to new heights.
● Dedicated office space in Egham
● The chance to secure follow on funding of up to £100,000
● The chance to secure a contract with Belron
How does the investment work?
Belron and L Marks have committed a total investment pot of £200,000 to invest in the startups participating in the programme. The pot is equally distributed between L Marks (£100,000) and Belron (£100,000). The investment will be allocated at the discretion of Belron and L Marks between participating startups, up to £100,000 per startup. As for example, the investment could go to just one startup or be distributed among a few.
How many stages is the programme?
The programme has 4 stages: 1. Apply 2. Pitch 3. Programme 4. Demo. See our timeline for more info.
When is Drive?
Drive will run from 30th April – 10th July 2018.
Where is Drive?
Some Drive activity will take place in Belron’s Head Office in Egham, Surrey (UK) but you will also be required to travel to your partner country during the programme.
When will I know which country I’m partnered with?
We decide which country to pair you with at Pitch Day, once we’ve found out a bit more about your business. Pairings are decided depending on the specific business needs of the relevant countries. Between Pitch Day and the start of the programme, we’ll run an “on-boarding” phase with your partner country so that you can start to plan your trial.
Where will the mentors come from?
Mentors will include senior technologists and management from Belron, and business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors from a range of leading international businesses. A full list of mentors will be announced in due course.
What does the day-to-day look like at Drive?
Drive’s itinerary is designed to help you create game-changing products for the vehicle glass repair and replacement market. You’ll be working in short sprints to rapidly develop your product, receiving essential guidance on key decisions in real time from your mentors. You’ll be working closely with your partner country to trial your product or service and refine it to meet Belron’s needs. Aside from this core focus, you’ll also attend enlightening talks and workshops from a plethora of exceptional visitors.
